Shadowball is a groundbreaking arts project sustained through sport in which primary students create and perform a new Jazz musical by renowned Jazz composer Julian Joseph about Black Baseball players, as an introduction to playing this sport.

The project is run by the Hackney Music Development Trust (winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for Education).

Shadowball is an inspiring national initiative, because it uses the arts to break down complex barriers of racial prejudice and exclusion, de-motivation and lack of role models, but also offers the most disadvantaged young people rare opportunities to develop training skills in this team building sport, leading to self-sustaining school and community leagues.

WWMT supported the Hackney Music Development Trust £15,000 towards the costs of this high quality project.
